I provided UX design and art direction for Reelhouse’s GearVR and Oculus Rift app. One of the early industry products to support showcasing of user generated 360 degree video.
A new set of interactions were designed for the VR video watching experience. Browsing, searching, watching, and streaming 360 content needed to feel simple and intuitive in this immersive environment.
The VR experience immersed the viewer in the world of the story by creating a themed 360 setting generated directly from the film.

The player was designed to make using the gaze cursor and touch mechanics feel as natural as possible. The gaze cursor snaps and locks to the progress bar when close enough, making it easy to click through the video.
